About The Skipper

Graham grew up in Port Elizabeth and started sailing in Algoa Bay in the early seventies. His love for boats started as a tender young shcool boy where he raced a boat with a close school friend. After school Graham's love affair with the sea and boats continued and he spent two years in the navy.

Later on he sailed with the late South African yachting legend, Bertie Reed, on the original Voortrekker and set the record from Port Elizabeth to East London which still stands today.

In the mid eighties Graham decided to follow his dreams and head off sailing. He did 2 Cape to Uruguay races and numerous ocean crossings. He also raced boats in England, the Carribean and the USA.

Graham returned in 1988 and decided to get serious about life. He was presented with an opportunity to manage and later purchase a building material business. During this time he built 3 yachts of which the largest was Comfortably Numb. He Launched her in 2004 and has been chartering in East London since.

Graham still races yachts competitively and competes Nationally in Cape Town. His great knowledge and keen sense of humour are sure to add value to your cruising experience.
